Hi, it’s Grant from GTEK Infrared. Today we’re going to be talking about the Teledyne FLIR PathFindIR II night vision camera system.
The PF II is a long wave infrared camera that does not require light to see obstacles on the road. This camera is ideal for hazardous night time driving, and when there is poor visibility caused by fog, dust, or bushfire smoke.
What Is The Benefit Of PathFindIR Night Vision Cameras?
The biggest benefit of the PF II system is increased safety when driving in low light conditions. The PF ll thermal camera increases the driver’s situational awareness far beyond the reach of vehicle headlights.
The thermal camera’s increased site distance reduces the driver’s reaction time, increases the braking distance, and offers a higher level of safety for the driver, passengers, and cargo.
PathFindIR Thermal Camera for Animal Detection
The FLIR PF ll thermal camera system helps drivers avoid road hazards such as people walking on the road. The camera also helps drivers avoid animal collisions with livestock and wildlife that stray into the vehicle’s path.
The applications for the PF II are wide and varied. For example, freight logistics companies are using the PathFindIR to keep their trucks safe when transporting products to remote mines.
Freight trucks are on the road to the mines 24/7. The PF ll helps drivers avoid animal strikes while providing a safer workplace.
Thermal Imagery for Agriculture
GTEK Infrared also has customers using these IR cameras for off-road farming applications.
These include vermin control, monitoring wildlife, and monitoring adverse weather conditions such as supercell thunderstorms that affect livestock.
Thermal Detection For Car Driving Safety
GTEK also has customers fitting PF ll cameras to their personal vehicles in order to avoid animal strikes when commuting to and from work. This IR camera is popular with drivers travelling through animal corridors in semi-rural and rural areas.
Split Architecture Camera System
The PF ll night vision enhancement kit is what we call ‘split-architecture’. The kit comes with a FLIR camera head, an Electronic Control Unit or ECU, and interface cables.
Typically, the PF ll camera head is mounted behind the grill or on the bull bar to minimise obstructions and to maximise the camera’s thermal range.
Fire Fighting Equipment Australia
Rural firefighters are using these IR cameras to maintain vision in fire and smoke-affected areas.
PF ll cameras are mounted on the front of emergency service vehicles and is connected to a camera control unit that is mounted inside the vehicle cab.
This solution enables the firemen to safely monitor bushfires and to drive through heavy smoke when there is little or no visibility with the naked eye.
PathFindIR Vehicle Mounted LCD Screen
GTEK recommends a seven inch LCD screen is mounted in the vehicle cab.
We can supply an LCD screen as an addition to the PathFindIR II kit. Or you are welcome to source a screen to suit your specific needs.
Thermal Camera Fitted by Electrician or Mechanic
GTEK recommends a competent auto electrician, or a mechanic, fits the LCD screen and the PathFindIR II camera system.
Fitted correctly, the PathFindIR II is an incredibly reliable system that will give you many years of service with minimal maintenance.
How to Clean a PathFindIR Thermal Camera Lens
Thermal imaging cameras do not need much maintenance. And unlike a conventional camera, IR camera lenses do not need cleaning. A dirty lens on a thermal camera does not affect the vision performance of the system.
How Long Do Thermal Cameras Last?
In the fourteen years that GTEK has been supplying the PathFindIR system, including both the PathFindIR I and the PathFindIR II, we have only ever had one failure and that was due to an incorrect fitment.
The PF ll camera system is very reliable. Fitted correctly, the PathFindIR will give you years of service.
US Export Compliance for Thermal Imagers
As a global trade compliant product, there is paperwork to complete and submit prior to the purchase of the PF ll camera system.
